Volta

Today we (Romana, Emanuel, Bernard and myself) left in the a.m. to go East to Volta.
We were going to meet a lady to make some connections with Romana.
It is a two hour drive....as we leave the city of Accra the desert...bush, trees and lots of red sand are before us. It really does look like a movie you see were the jeeps drive looking for lions etc...except there is a road way (two lane) in the middle of it all.
We drive for one hour, came to a police check, slowed down to check and the car died...hummmm!
What do you do...you take care of your self...there is not triple A and the people there are not there to help you...they would but they do not have anyhing to help you with.
SO, we PRAY, check oil, check water, listen to the piston hitting and hitting and we turn around and start to drve back...very slowly. Yep...that is what we did.
So I am back at Beacon House and we are changing cars and off we go agian to complete our mission.
Yes GOd is good and we are covered. IT is a very interesting feeling to be OUT THERE in the heat and really feel a sense of "okay God...this really is only you...we have to get back" kind of feeling.
I am here on my bed with my boy (he met me at the gate with a huge hug and asked for biscuits and coloring) for the next 30 mins until the driver honks again and off we go.
WHile we were in the car, Romana was able to talk to someone at the Emabassy...It appears that Jim and Laurel got turned away yesterday when they tried to file and were told they needed an appointment...so Romana checked...she got the lady and sure enough she said "Yes you need to give your name and a contact number, then you can return to file"
Just 12 days ago when Romana had another family here to file...NO appointment needed...filed and went home.
This is the way it works here...VERY interesting. IT is so new, it changes with out a notice, you do not know it changes.
SO, we made an appointment to go in on Thursday to file! (yeah...getting closer)
For now...I am off to Volta for the day to do some Connecting of relationships... I am really learning that in Ghana that is what it is all about.
* you should see John coloring with "color wonder" paper and markers for the first time...LOVE THE FIRSTS!!!
